Cross-axle ruts and snowy switchbacks expose the weak point of a stock Forester, an open rear differential that lets the unloaded wheel spin while the loaded one stops pulling. This Torq-Master R160 Rear Locker swaps out the factory spider gears for a 9310 steel automatic locker that engages under throttle and freewheels on corners, with no air compressor, cables or switches to maintain. Options run from the 2009-2013 Forester through the current 2025-2026 generation, including the 2.0XT, the 2.5i manual and both Wilderness generations. Torq-Masters only guarantees traction control behaviour up to the 2018 model year, so newer Forester owners should read the fitment notes. Install requires removing the rear differential, and it pairs well with a rear diff skid plate for Alberta backroads. Shipped anywhere in Canada by Flat 4 Offroad from Calgary.
