An Outback that spends its weekends on washboard gravel and snowy mountain passes benefits from a taller tire, and a smaller wheel is the simplest way to fit one. For the 1995-2009 Outback, the Black Rhino Boxer comes in 15x7 and 16x7 at +15mm plus 17x8 at +40mm, all on 5x100. The 2010-2014 generation is listed in 17x8 +40mm only, and the 2015-2026 Outback uses that same 17x8 wheel drilled for 5x114.3. Each wheel is cast aluminum in Gun Black, weighing from about 7.7 kg for the 15 inch up to 9.6 kg for the 17 inch. Turbo XT and six-cylinder models in the 1995-2009 range have bigger front brakes, so confirm clearance before going to 15 inch, and add hub-centric rings sized to the 56.1mm hub.
